MACABRUM BESTIA EX ABYSSUS
When seeing the name of the band it’s hard to imagine that what you have in front of you is a black metal band. Sure, the never-fail latin album title is there but still a linger of doubt can be found.
There’s no doubt about it, however, when you put the album on what this is all about! Straightforward & violent Slovenian black metal. I can’t really put down any one influence that’s found right away, the band seems to be an omnivore when it comes to inspiration and what you find here is a little bit of the old jewels heavily wrapped up in new packages. There's a bit of Sweden here, a bit of Germany, some “Satan” here and there and to wrap things up a Hellhammer cover. Not bad, but not something there’s still a bit of time until Bleeding Fist will sweep me completely of my feet.
